When Santa bought J his first real bike for Christmas 2008, we had no idea he would take to riding with such zeal!
He got a 12" bike with trainer wheels, and 6 months later was riding with no training wheels. A year later and he had outgrown it completely!
So, after a year of saving hard (and thankyou to those lovely family and members who helped him along the way!) he proudly took his piggy bank and all it's contents and purchased a brand new 16" bike.
Even though he is a touch too short for it he has astonished me with his determination to master it.
Our idea was for him to have a couple of months to get used it, meanwhile riding his old bike too on longer trips, and then 'giving' his old, smaller bike to M for his birthday. But within 2 days J adamantly declared that he didn't ever want to ride his old bike again, and he would like for M to have it so they can go for rides together.
J has determination in loads, and you can see him set his jaw when he gets the wobbles starting and stopping the new bike (as he can't touch the ground without leaning it over - a new skill to learn) and he just keeps on trying without any upset or anger.
So proud of my little man!
